Drill Press Harbor Freight 38142 video review

MINDLESS BORING: I bought the harbor freight 38142 drill press on sale with the coupon from harbor freight 25% off. The 13" heavy duty drill press # 38142 is a bit taller then most bench top drill press, and has .75 3/4 horse power ac motor. Originally, I wanted a drill press of about 10 inch swing, to act as a mill drill for my 7x14 mini lathe, but the sale price of the central machinery 13" bench drill press got the nod. Of coarse, 2 weeks after drilling my first holes with the made in china machine tool, a quality American made drill press turned up at a local yard sale, again i kick myself.
the plan for the drill press was to mount it to or on my 7x14, but the harbor freight 38142 proved to big for this, so I started looking at my logan 920 lathe, as a candidate to be a mill drill. Again the #38142 drill press base did not fit inside the chip pan for my 11" logan, bumming. The table on the appears to be large enough to possible hold a piece of steel that may act as a base plate for the minilathe to sit directly on the drill press table. stay tuned for more videos, more power tools.
